Exploring During Au Pair School

All au pairs spend 3 days in New Haven, CT for Au Pair Training School before flying to their host family’s home for their program year.  New Haven, Connecticut is an extremely historical and exciting city to be in!

Whether you are taking a stroll on the green, or walking through the Yale Campus, you will always find yourself surrounded by activity. Here are a few fun things to occupy your time in this great city for Au Pair School!

Visit New York City 

Another benefit of visiting New Haven, is its proximity to the Big Apple! Hop on a train at Union Station and you will be at Grand Central station in less than two hours. Check out Times Square, take photos in Grand Central Station, and spend your time being a true tourist for the night!

Yale University

One of the things you will definitely notice while in New Haven, is all of the college students walking around. Yale University offers a ton of things to do for visitors. The campus itself is open to visitors Monday through Friday. You can stop into the Yale Visitor Center if you would like to look around; they offer visitor tours, admissions tours, private tours and virtual tours. Campus Customs, on Broadway, offers Yale apparel if you want to take some of Connecticut home with you! There is also the Yale University Art Gallery which is admission free and includes incredible work.

Pizza

New Haven is known for one very special food item – PIZZA! It’s a must when you are in town visiting. Stop by Modern Apizza, Frank Pepe’s or Sally’s Apizza to discover why New Haven Pizza is called the best in the country.

Tours

One of the best ways to explore the city is through one of the many tours offered. The Elm City Party Bike is one of the favorite ways to learn about New Haven. The bike tour offers stops at different restaurants while being able to see the unique architecture and historical sites New Haven offers. And you will get plenty of exercise!
