Au pairs come to the USA  for many different reasons; learning about American culture, improving their language skill while having the opportunity of exploring different places. Volunteerism is one of the great opportunities for au pairs during their program year in the USA to explore and even make new friends!

The Department of States has been coordinating many different volunteer events for J-1 Visa holders and NYC Marathon was one of them. Our au pair Camila and I were lucky enough to be volunteering at the Marathon at the fluid station to help and to cheer for the runners! It was quite an experience for both of us!
