2023 Au Pair of the Year

The exceptional characteristics that make Melissa the winner are as followed… She gives our boys a tremendous amount of LOVE. She loves our sons like they are her own. As parents, it makes us so thankful that someone can love our boys. She always wants to be involved in family activities outside of her normal day. Her personality is perfect for our family.

The positive impact she has made to our family has been second to none. Since she’s arrived we have seen tremendous progress in our sons. Now, they are boys so they don’t always get along but her ability to stay calm and show them LOVE is quite impressive.

She has opened our eyes to the Mexico Culture for food, celebrations, and just everyday life. She has also gotten involved in the community! She has volunteered with the Susan B Colman Breast Cancer Walk, Indy 500 parade, Dia de mortos and may other organizations. She also welcomes new Au Pairs that live in Indianapolis, embraces them and their culture and introduces them to Indianapolis and the Midwest. She’s a leader and truly embraces the au pair program!

Our favorite aspects about the Au Pair Program

She has opened our eyes to the Mexico Culture for food, celebrations, and just everyday life. We are a family, so we encourage Melissa and our boys to participate in the Mexico culture. Our favorite celebration was celebrating Day of the Dead. Melissa taught us so much about the celebrating and what it means to her culture. The kids dressed up and had their faces painted. We even watched Melissa participate in the Day of the Dead Parade at the Eiteljorg Museum. This Museum celebrates artistic expression through diversity and culture. Maddox, our oldest son, has been in Full Emersion Spanish class and they enjoy practicing their Spanish too.
